I have had my Acorn Stairlift for about 16 months. The personnel are professional and the product has performed in general as intended.
The problem was a failure and the upside panel (key and light) let go as it has a poorly designed support bracket that ultimately cost me $342.
My chairlift is almost five years old and I couldn’t afford the yearly contract anymore and once that expired the main computer board burnt out
Needless to say they charge 500 for a new computer and 250 service fee so now we are here left with no chairlift
Worse company
They will not come out and fix your stairlift. They just give excuses. Horrible service. Do not buy one.
CAN GET BATTERY REPLACE AND WILL RETURN NOT PHONES NO DEALERS IN SALISBURY MD
DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THEM! Only had our stairlift for 4 months and its falling apart! Mom was coming down the stairs with it when the lover safety cover flew out, called Acorn, took over 3 weeks for someone to come out, when they finally did they said it will cost $250.00 plus the service call! When supposedly it has a year of warranty, and it hasn't been 10 months for the free maintenance service. YET they expect me to pay! PLUS stairlift makes a lot of squeaky noises as you ride on it and is not stable. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS, for anyone who is in need for either themselves or a family member. Only selected 1 star cause I had to in order to post my review, if not then I would not give... Read More

Please thank Tim McGuire for his excellent ability to guide us through the purchase of our new curved chairlift. We built our house two years ago. We finished the basement to accommodate my mother-in-law should she ever need to live with us (wide doors, walk in shower, etc. best lake view in the entire house). She contracted COVID while visiting us almost two years ago. After we nursed her back to health, she never left. She refused to live downstairs and stayed in the main house taking up 2 quest bedrooms. After multiple strokes, physical therapists, care givers, all interrupting our lives, we finally gave her a choice of 1st floor or nursing home. She now is the happiest she has been in... Read More
Frank here in Fort Myers is without a doubt the best technician I have ever had service for our Acorn stairlift

A salesman arrived exactly as scheduled and was very nice and friendly. He took all the dimensions and info necessary to build our stairlift. He also left me with a sheet where he needed 4 measurements to properly build the seat to accommodate my wife. I've been trying to call the number on the sheet for two weeks and all I get is a recording stating that they are experiencing high customer volume and to wait. I've waited for 30 minutes and no one every answered. I also tried calling every other Acorn number on the internet including their factory in Florida with no answer or was placed on hold with no answer. There has to be someone at that company but customer service doesn't seem to be... Read More
After only a few months the chair isn't running smoothly at all. There's multiple spots where it seems like the chain is slipping. We have called 5 times over the past 7 days and every time you sit on hold for 15-20 minutes and then prompted to leave a message and NOBODY ever calls you back. We spent almost $4K on this lift which up until now has been great, but the level of service from the company leaves much to be desired. I'd recommend researching a little further before deciding on Acorn unless its last or only option.
This review speaks to customer service only. It is almost nonexistent.
Getting through to anyone has taken close to 48 hours. Getting an appointment within a reasonable period of time did not happen. If they do come when they say the chairlift will have been inoperable for 5 days. So much for 24-7 service support. As for the chair lift itself it has broken down twice in a 6 month period. I also am sorry we did not read these reviews before purchasing.
I have been waiting 2 weeks for a technician to come fix a foot rest problem on my mom's Acorn stair lift. I received an appointment 9 days from when I first called and no technician showed up. I called and they said they had technical difficulties and our appointment wasn't in the schedule. They said they would call with an appointment 4 days ago and they still have not called back. I called today and they said someone would call but they don't know when. My mom is 85 years old in a split level house. This chair allows her to live in her house. Her chair keeps getting stuck. We pay for the "platinum" upgraded extended warrantee package to get help when she needs it. They have no problem... Read More
Very professional and courteous. Sales and installation were done in a timely manner. I am so thankful for my chairlift. It has made life easier. I would recommend it to anyone.
To get hold of support is pain. We had this chair installed just three months ago and scratches the rail and makes loud noise. Seat is not comfortable and constant worry if my parents 87 and 85 years may fall. Now after reading other reviews, I am really worried and seems we made a bad choice.
I purchased my stairlift this January. Some minor problems but overall happy with the chairlift However Acorn's claim of 24-7 customer service is almost a joke. It is a customer service line. They can not advise you in an emergency but will make an appointment for service in usually 2 weeks. They promised at the time of sale that if chair became inoperable they wouldn't leave a customer stranded. They would send some one out within a few days after all if it wasn't a safety issue for me I wouldn't ave bought the thing in the first place. Buyer Bewre
We installed a stairlift on Jan 19, 2021 for my 90 year old father in law. We have had multiple issues with it stopping....error code F6. We were told the first 2 times to just use the crank and wind it. And I might add it took a minimum of 4 days for anyone to call us back. This time, after no response back and after researching, I discovered there is a switch we need to turn off when cranking...no one ever told us that before! And my research said this is a code a technician needs to come out for. My father in law is 90 years old. We are not always here to be able to assist him if the chair stops. What happens if he should fall and break a hip, his leg, hit his head????? I... Read More
Chair constantly breaks. Call customer service and they give you a 2 week window. Call and request manager callback and nothing. Terrible company. Very sorry my mother used them. Now my mother is stuck upstairs. Cannot even get downstairs to her walk in shower.
I also wish I had read these reviews. Was given misleading information and was not told about purchasing warranty.
I wish I had read these reviews before buying the stairlift. When I asked questions, the answers, while not outright lies, were deceptive and misleading.
I should have read some of these reviews before but a friend in NJ had good experience with them.
Our lift was installed 3/12/2020 so far 3 repairs
M 1st mechanic very arrogant. 2nd seem to know what to do as was 3rd. Forget the salesperson once he, Andreas, made the sale good bye not a follow up call or response to text. Last Svc call took 3 days to come. My wife has MS & this lift, btw we had a chairlift for 20 yrs & never encountered such BS.
I could go on but it’s pointless I guess we’re stuck with it. PLEASE DO YOUR HOMEWORK not like me
If it was possible, I would leave -(minus) stars. This company is hungry money, they asked me for $250 only for the technician to come, my question was: why it is so expensive the technician will come by helicopter???
the annual service costs $600, the same cost for air flight ticket to visit Europe. Do not make business with them they do not have compassion with the price
UPDATE acorn came out and made it right they went above and beyond to make it right good job
you are hot to get the 12000 but not so much on servicing i have been about 2 months trying to get m yearly service call i am told call in a few weeks if you look at the chair it beeps you are real hot to try and get me to give you almost 800 for a year warranty in fact pushy and i would do that why when can not get a call now on it never would i tell anyone about you
If I could leave zero stars, I would. We purchased our Acorn Stair life 3 years ago, and paid $10,000 for it. In that three years, we have had to have service on it 4 times. The first time was in the 1 year warranty. After that, there was a $250 charge per service call plus parts. The third time we had service was 3 weeks ago, paid $250. It broke down last Friday and we could not get a service tech out here until Monday, which is earlier than previous visits. Usually they don't come out til Wednesday. I called the CS department on Friday explaining the numerous problems we've had with their product and how ridiculous it is that they take so long to service the chair. I asked to... Read More
Purchased a curved stair lift from Acorm three years ago. There have been seventeen service calls on the chair for a variety of reasons. The service department cannot come very quickly. It usually takes at a minimum three days. They have replaced some of the same parts more than once. The technicians are always polite and try to be helpful but they are not very well trained. I pay for a deluxe service contract yearly and due to the number of service calls and replaced parts I at least am getting my monies worth. A curved stair lift is very problematic and feel I was never told upfront that there may be problems. i cannot endorse Acorn in any way.
